« back to classes page
Join Perry on a journey back in time to the early days of North Dakota, where we will explore the lives of the first settlers who pursued the dream of owning free land under the Homestead Act of 1862. However, this was not an ordinary land grab, as the pioneers faced numerous challenges. We will uncover the story of the Sod House, a surprising but ingenious solution these intrepid settlers used to build their first homes on the treeless plains. Come along with us on this journey as we discover the grit, resilience, and resourcefulness of these early North Dakotans!
