CDL: Hazardous Material Endorsement Theory

This is an online, self-paced course that meets the FMCSA requirements for Hazardous Material Endorsement Theory. This course is four (4) hours in length and delivered online. Our CDL Instructor and program manager will be available to answer questions by email and phone. Upon successful completion of all training modules and an 80% or better on assessments, students will be eligble to take the ND State Hazmat Knowledge Test.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the course, students will gain knowledge on:
  • General HM Awareness Training
  • HM Highway Transportation
  • HM Labeling
  • Loading/Unloading and Load Segregation of HM
  • Placarding
  • Reporting HM Crashes, Releases, and Incidents
  • HM Safety Training, including Safety Permits
  • Security Awareness Training
  • HM Shipping Papers
  • The Hazardous Materials Table
Prerequisites: Current Class A Commercial Drivers License.

Notice

Please read:  Students will be required to provide a copy of their Class A Commercial Driver's License following registration. Proof may be:

  • emailed to bsc.training@bismarckstate.edu
  • mailed to BSC Continuing Education, PO Box 5587, Bismarck ND 58506 or
  • dropped off in-person at 1200 Schafer St, Nat'l Energy Center of Excellence, Room 107

Access to the course will not be granted if this documentation is not provided.

Instructions on how to access the class go out on Mondays and Tuesdays each week. Students will receive an email from jjkellerresponse@t.jjkeller.com with the subject line of J. J. Keller® Online Training Course Enrollment. Access to the course will expire after 14 days from the date access is granted. Once successfully completing the training and assessments, results will be uploaded into the FMCSA database within 2 business days and an electronic certificate of completion will be emailed to the student.
