Non-Credit Career Pathway Course

This 16-hour online, self-paced course introduces the fundamentals of dental billing and coding, with an emphasis on Medicaid requirements, CDT codes, and common dental insurance processes. Whether individuals have experience or no prior knowledge, the course focuses on accurate code selection, documentation basics, and responding to insurance inquiries. The course does not lead to certification but supports foundational knowledge and professional skill development in dental billing and insurance processes.

What You Will Learn
In this course, you will:
  • Understand the basics of dental insurance systems, including how they function within dental practices
  • Learn how to accurately identify and apply Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes
  • Explore Medicaid-specific requirements and guidelines relevant to dental claims
  • Gain experience with claim submission basics and required documentation 
  • Learn strategies for addressing common insurance inquiries and claim denials
  • Develop familiarity with billing terminology, workflows, and revenue cycle processes used in dental offices
