Step back in time and into the world of photography with acclaimed artist Shane Balkowitsch. Join Shane in his natural light studio to discuss the history of photography and the beloved process of wet plate collodion. He will provide an overview of photography and show a demonstration of the process from 1851.
Participants will learn about composition and the use of a large format camera as well as enter the darkroom to see the images come to life in pure silver on glass. Shane's original plates are held in over 100 museums worldwide, including the Smithsonian, Library of Congress, and the University of Oxford. With fewer than 1,000 people globally practicing this historic photographic art, this class offers a unique, front-row seat to a truly special experience.
