Sparks Fly: Intro to Welding

ClassGraphic This hands-on, project-based course provides an introduction to safe welding practices and foundational skills. Participants will learn Oxy-Acetylene Cutting (OFC), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) through a combination of instruction and guided lab experience. Topics include shop and welding safety, equipment setup and operation, joint types, welding techniques, consumables, and basic welding theory. This course is designed for beginners and those looking to build practical, foundational welding skills for hobby or personal use. Throughout the course, participants will apply the skills they learn to create and complete a welded metal flower to take home. The cost of project materials is included in the registration fee.

All participants must wear long pants and steel-toed boots. Safety gear, including gloves, glasses, jackets, and helmets are provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own safety equipment if preferred.

Please note: This course does not result in a welding certification.
